So now ,let me tell you some information about Chengdu，As many of you know, Chengduis the capital city of Sichuan province .it is located in the west ofSichuanbasin known as “ land of abundance” since ancient times . In Chinese ,we say the kingdom of 天府. Chengduis one of the 24 china historical and cultural cities ratified by the state council . It is also an important political , financial , cultural , and military center in southwest china.
But Do you know what is the meaning of Chengdu。according to some ancient books .about 2300 years ago .开明, one of the kings of the ancient 蜀 kingdom abandoned his old capital and moved to today’sChengdu . It was said that at first , Chengduwas only a county center ,in the second year ,It turned into a metropolis ,It developed so fast that the city received the present name . literally means becoming a capital.
In fact,Chengdu has other names in history , in the eastern 汉 dynasty ,with the prosperity of the brocade industry , the 锦官城 was added to the south gate of city as a residence for the brocade officials sent by the imperial court to manage the brocade industry , Chengdu therefore earned the nickname 锦城 or锦官城 , which is “ brocade city” in English .another name was given toChengdu during the five—dynasty period , the hibiscus loving emperor 孟昶，who is the emperor of the later 蜀 state , had the hibiscus flowers planted throughout the entire city ,when the hibiscus flowers were in blossom , the flower made Chengdu colorful for miles , thus Chengdu is also called “the city of hibiscus” or 芙蓉城 in Chinese .
Over many centuries ,till nowadays ,tourist from other places come toChengduaiming at the Sichuanfood .杜甫，the great 唐 dynasty poet , spoke highly of Sichuanfood during his stay inChengdu and said “Sichuan wine and dishes are extremely tasty , fish in local rivers is greatly delicious ” . maybe someone just think Sichuan food is spicy and hot , I don’t quite agree ,There is a popular saying that states “ food is in china , and flavor in Sichuan ”.the flavor of Sichuan food is very complicated , chefs have to blend many ingredients together to create different flavors , include 酸辣 flavor , 鱼香 flavor , 麻辣 flavor and so on , Sichuan food balances its color ,smell , flavor , shape , and nutrition very carefully . so Sichuandishes not only look pleasant and appealing ,but also nutritious .generallySichuan recipes or menus in the restaurant include some well—knownSichuandishes , such as 锅巴肉片，樟茶鸭子，宫保鸡丁，麻婆豆腐，鱼香肉丝 and so on.
